stabilized to provide a three-year shelf life, as shown by the expiration date
on the label. Other bacterial pond products have limited shelf life, yet their
labels give no expiration dates. Liquid bacterial products, in particular, are
subject to rapid degradation, evidenced by their characteristic "rotten egg
(hydrogen sulfide) odor. Formation of toxic hydrogen sulfide indicates complete
product breakdown; consequently, such products should not be added to a pond.
